ZEPHR: Don’t Worry About It: LP

Jan 26, 2021

Zephr’s shouty punk seems to work best when they’re not shouting. I’m thinking of the more subdued approach of “Phoning It In” and “Don’t Step on My Snakey Snake,” or any of the moments when they’re more like ’90s indie rockers. They’re balancing hardcore and melodic rock and the songs mostly click into place—the hooks come easily, and the general thoughtfulness of the lyrics comes through. Maybe more of a record for the aging and the bearded, just FYI. –Matt Werts (Snappy Little Numbers, snappylittlenumbers.com)
