Poland’s answer to Crass, this new wave-ish political punk outfit never recorded a proper record. Wildly popular during their three years as a group, the main surviving music of theirs is this soundboard recording from a festival gig. Vocalist Gertruda snarls poignant lyrics that primarily focus on anti-militaristic, anti-state themes. The mid-tempo music includes shades of darkwave, yet with the strong punk approach from that era’s peers like Flux Of Pink Indians. The gatefold packaging is glorious, with two zines and a poster included as well. Warsaw Pact is a label for punk anthropologists to treasure as they painstakingly restore and revive absurdly overlooked relics like Zbombardowana Laleczka. –Art Ettinger (Warsaw Pact, [email protected])
