I wasn’t hugely enamoured with Zapiain’s 2011 debut, Jibberjabber, as it lacked anything to mark it out from the crowd. Giantnormous is a different beast, and with Blake Schwarzenbach and Bob Mould vocal comparisons being prevalent from start to finish, I found myself taking to the album with ease. Musically, it is quality head-nodding fodder provided by an engaging collection of mid-paced, anthemic songs expertly delivered whilst maintaining quite a relaxed quality. This record pushes the band closer to the front of the pack producing music in a similar vein. –Rich Cocksedge (Bombed Out, bombedout.com / All In Vinyl, [email protected], allinvinyl.com)
