Angus’s latest edition of The Wonder of It All has him writing diatribes on Van Halen, jazz, abstract expressionism, reality TV, and more. The layout is tight and looks great. It’s actually the highlight of the zine. The writing itself is quite good, too, however. The piece on Van Halen got me to look up the 1983 performance of “Ain’t Talkin’ about Love” at the US Festival. And I’m not even a Van Halen fan, so that’s saying something. Yet, at times it was hard for me to tell when a piece was talking about one subject and when it had moved into the next subject. That said, I’ve been reading a lot of academic texts lately so my brain is fried and that may explain things. Still, the maturity of the writing and a fine color layout on crisp newsprint make this one a thumbs up. –Kurt Morris (Angus, 21A Buckingham Rd., London, E15 1SW, UK)
