WOMEN IN SOUND #8, $5?, 5½” x 8½”, copied, 55 pgs.

Another great issue of this zine “dedicated to women and non-binary people in all areas of live and recorded sound,” as the splash page says. In-depth and revealing interviews with longtime jazz musician Carol Kaye (who started playing gigs in 1949!), producer Gloria Kaba, a chat between Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis and Shamir on their respective recordings, as well as a how-to on mastering guidelines. I dig this zine’s clean but distinct layout, and, above else, the voracious enthusiasm the contributors bring to their chats, making for great reading even if the reader isn’t familiar with the subjects. –Michael T.
