I’m sure not many bands have created their own genre, but the four lads from Stoke (Discharge) created the d-beat sound that has been with us for forty years. Warchild from Sweden take the blueprint and keep it current with haiku lyrics about war and a galloping dis-beat. This has more of thicker sound like Totalitär or Disaster but doesn’t stray too far from the path. I’m an absolute sucker for this shit and have a wall full of bands ripping off Discharge. If it ain’t broke, don’t fucking fix it. Like an enormous door slamming in the depths of hell. Fear of total annihilation. A tough feeling to live with every day. –Tim Brooks (Black Water, blackwaterpdx.com)
