VAAVI: Viimeinen Elävä Köyhä: LP

Nov 22, 2017

One of Finland’s early punk purveyors returns. Originally popping up to cause trouble in 1978 and sporadically active through the ‘80s, this is their first new release in thirty years. The sound is heavily reliant on the “rock” in punk rock, with tempos firmly rooted in second gear instead of a perpetual race to the finish, and nary an obvious Discharge influence within earshot. The ska tune was unfortunate, the cover of The Who’s “Substitute”—in Finnish, no less—was “this should be in a movie” great and, taken as a whole, this is a nice return to form. –Jimmy Alvarado (Kämäset Levyt)
