V-3: The Enemy Within: LP

Mar 10, 2023

Admittedly, I know next to nothing about V-3, even though a couple of their records are on my want list, and that’s probably from hearing them played on WFMU. They’re not easy to pin down with a one-size-fits-all descriptive, so let’s just say lo-fi experimental weirdo rock from the 1980s into the 1990s. These tracks from the vaults of Nudge Squidfish span from 1980 to 1991. At times noisy and psychedelic on a budget, and at other times they sound like pre-’90s indie rock before the majors came calling. Sometimes I think of the Swell Maps when I listen to this, but this is very American in sound. If you’re looking for something way off the beaten path, this will get you to where you want to go. –Matt Average (Bravecloud)
