UNITED DEFIANCE: Safe at Home: LP

May 24, 2022

Gatefold LP of high-velocity melodic skatepunk stuff that would’ve been perfectly at home on Fat or Nitro back when that stuff was in its heyday. They’re certainly proficient enough; this is a tight record. Good Riddance is the most significant waypoint I can think of, particularly with their penchant for mixing strident political stuff with, in this case, singalongs about partying and going to shows. Some of the most eyeball-burning neon yellow vinyl I’ve ever been witness to. The wheel is not reinvented here—and really, there aren’t a lot of hands that do this sort of stuff anymore—but it’s also a wheel that spins along quite nicely. –Keith Rosson (IM)
