I loved this band’s LP of last year but this single is quite a departure, heading deep into indie shoegaze territory with a cleaner, fuller sound, introspective breakdowns, building crescendos, and impassioned harmonies. I dunno; it’s fine but just feels a bit too self-absorbed for me. Fans of Superchunk and Sonic Youth may want to check it out. I’ll stick with my Spacemen 3 records, thanks. –Tim Brooks (Lovely)
