TURNSTYLES: Cut You Off: LP

This is a solid album with some well-played rock’n’roll benchmarks. “Cut You Off” has a great surf beat. “Can’t Look Cool” has a 4/4-rock structure framing Chuck Berry-influenced chugging. “The Snake” launches with Link Wray-style reverb and slinks along in the style of early rock instrumentals. The band is comprised of two people from Jack Oblivian’s band, so if you’re into Jack Oblivian projects, you’ll definitely want to check it out. It’s a good LP for the rock crowd. –Billups Allen (Black & Wyatt, blackandwyattrecords.com)
