Couple things worth noting: Towanda is an all-female three-piece, Plaything comes in at ten songs, and the album art—pink/purple ink on gray chipboard—is rad. These are distortion-heavy, mid-tempo plodders chock full of sludge and menace, save for a few quick barbs like “No Time for a Crisis.” Makes me miss very much bands like the Curse and Reckless, who sounded at times super similar. Also reminds me—if only for the fact that everything here seems coated in distortion and levels in the recording are hot—of Unfun. –Keith Rosson (Deface The Music)
