TOO MUCH JOY: Mistakes Were Made: LP

I remember these guys from their heyday, but only dimly—I knew they had an album called Green Eggs and Crack and were clever, but that’s all I could call up when this one arrived (the guy I knew who was their biggest fan is now a high school principal, for whatever that’s worth). The impetus for Too Much Joy getting back together was 2020 and how much the year sucked. The album starts with “Blinding Light of Love,” the heaviest number herein. From there, the music gets a little more jangly/college radio, ostensibly, I think, to allow space for witty, incisive lyrics which make this one a grower.
