This is a highly ingenious series of mashups that are unexpectedly satisfying in their delivery: Crass and Can, Wings and Circle Jerks, Iggy Pop and the Commodores, Black Flag and The Doors, and Black Sabbath and Chicago. While this is a fun, really enjoyable listen, at first it has the feel of a novelty rather than one for the ages. But hearing Ozzy wail “War Pigs” over Chicago’s horn section makes me rethink that position—that startling yet enthralling combination leaves me wondering if mashups may be the one true form of musical originality we have left. If so, Tony Bluetile might well be the gold standard in that area, forging great new sounds by blending acts that seem as though they should be wholly disparate and have no business with each other. If you’re into mashups (or any of the acts that have been mashed up herein), you might want to pick this up. –The Lord Kveldulfr (Apple Corpse)
