Newport, R.I. four piece that originally started in 2001 but had been on “hiatus” since 2010. They checked under the hood again to see if everything still worked, and it did. This is their debut album and although I’m seeing them tagged as “emo prog,” I’m not sure that really fits the bill. It is a bit more technical sounding in spots, but that doesn’t mean I’m hearing ELP runs anywhere. “Delusions of Adequacy” is where the playing precision really kicks in to great effect. “Raspberry Handsoap” dials back the aggression but is no less emotional. This band is four dudes on an island. You can be on the mainland and still enjoy this record. –Sean Koepenick (75 Or Less, [email protected])
