THAT GIRL #16, $5/no trades, 5½” x 8½”, copied, 36 pgs.

It’s no surprise that an issue of a zine with a takeoff of Raymond Pettibon’s Goo artwork contains an essay on seeing Sonic Youth (and, by proxy, Nirvana). Kelli does a great job throughout writing smart, searing memoir pieces which link together to form a cohesive whole. Hooking up while homeless and Venice Beach are just a few of the topics dealt with throughout as Kelli remembers (and laments) her transition from high school to college. –Michael T.
