SUNLIGHT ASCENDING: Echos in Green: 7”

May 25, 2021

On the surface, this looks like it could be some super pretentious indie rock or woo woo nature spoken word. The cover is artsy photography mixed with detailed line drawings of plants, and the back side has a William Blake poem on it. And then the 7” itself is screen-printed on the B side, with a nearly seven minute song on the A side. I was hella skeptical, but I like it. They have a very modern post-punk sound to them with piercing guitar solos laid over a fuzz of atmospheric melody and a rhythm section that carries these elements along, but also knows when to build to a break. It’s all instrumental and very pretty. –Kayla Greet (Dropping Bombs,
