STRAIGHTLINE: As a Real Return: LP/CD

I’d like this more if there wasn’t so much guitar wizardry and metallic overtones crammed into the album. Beneath the far-too-often-overblown display of musical proficiency are the makings of some damn good songs, which, without the over-dramatics, would be right up my street. It’s a shame, really, as there are moments when the band hammers out some really good, fast-paced punk not too far from the likes of Strung Out and A Wilhelm Scream. –Rich Cocksedge (Bird Attack, [email protected], birdattackradio.com.com)
