I guess when the sun comes out, members of powerviolence and hardcore bands want to kick back, enjoy some rays, and write some smooth, ’90s-styled indie rock tunes. That’s what has happened here and I’m really enjoying the laidback feel created by this U.K. outfit. The first two tracks have the more relaxed feel, creating an easy listening sense, whilst “Crush” picks things up a bit and heads into Superchunk territory with a shorter, sharper effort. “Tummy Ache” is somewhere between the two approaches and rounds things off nicely with its lush, melodic sound. Crew Cuts Records once again throwing a bit of a curve ball. –Rich Cocksedge (Crew Cuts, [email protected], crewcutsrecords.limitedrun.com)
