STALE PHISH: Pole Jams: CD

Snotty, in-your-face skate punk from Detroit. No joke about the skate punk part. Almost every song is about skateboarding. Did you know that if you’re a skateboarding redneck, you’re a radneck? It’s true. And rollerbladers still suck. These party dudes clearly live by the board and die by the board. But it’s not all party. There’s an underlying theme of growing old and sticking with what you love that flows through a lot of these songs. “There’s No Easy Way” addresses the loss of friends along the way. “Lifer” covers the concept of compromising and taking a day job but still skating bowls at night. The surface level party makes this disc worth a listen. The depth makes it a keeper. –MP Johnson (Not Like You)
