SOODS, THE: Ornaments of Affection: CD

There are fourteen people in The Soods but they don’t play ska. I’m having a hard time computing that. Upon further reflection, perhaps the list of members is of the different people who played on this album instead of suggesting all the members played on every song. Just to be clear, The Soods don’t play anything that sounds like ska. Rather, they’re into psychedelic pop mixed with some Brit pop. There’s an occasional alt-country twang on these thirteen songs, too. The album sounds great and the music is generally chill with a few exceptions. I’d recommend listening to Ornaments of Affection while you drive through farmland on rural country roads. Not bad. –Kurt Morris (Self-released)
