SOMETHING FOR NOTHING #73, two stamps or trade, 5½” x 8½”, photocopied, 40 pgs.

Mostly a review-style zine, this issue of Something for Nothing features a thorough review of the band Bad Brains’ discography. In fact, the first eleven pages are dedicated to breaking down each album of theirs. After that, the zine covers the lead singer of Bad Brains’ (H.R.) solo projects, then Scaterd Few’s discography (which was a band that featured people who were friends with the lead singer of Bad Brains), then another band, Ras Michael, who was also somehow connected with H.R.?! That’s more than half of this zine’s content dedicated to Bad Brains! I would definitely suggest this issue for anyone who is a fan of theirs. The rest of the zine features some standard zine reviews, then a beverage review section which I really enjoyed. The zine ends with a small section about symbols and their interesting origins. One really cool thing about this zine is that the author included a DVD of MP3s of their radio show, which can be ordered as well, featuring over thirty hours of music (if ordering just the zine, two stamps. For DVD of radio show, throw in a few more)! –Tricia Ramos (Something For Nothing, 516 Third St. NE, Massillon, OH 44646, [email protected])
