SO, WHICH BAND IS YOUR BOYFRIEND IN? (MAKING THE DOCUMENTARY) #2, £3, 5¾” x 8 ½”, copied, 23pgs.

The best takeaway from this zine is that it led me to watching the documentary, which was backwards from what was intended by the documentary filmmaker and zine author (a fault of my own planning). The zine itself does give a detailed perspective of the hard work behind this passion project and could be interesting for anyone on a mission to make a documentary that involves traveling and interviewing. And although I appreciated getting a clear idea of what it takes to create a documentary like this, the zine alone is a bit boring and repetitive. However, I highly recommend the film. It is incredibly edited and meticulously delves into the complex issues women and non-binary musicians in the DIY (U.K.) punk scene experience. Although the zine feels somewhat unnecessary and has typos and photos that are too dark, the actual documentary is thought-provoking, inspiring, and extremely well-made. Anyone interested in gender roles in the music scene should see it. –Rosie Gonce (musicdocumentary.co.uk)
