Smirk already put out one of my favorite releases of 2021. This EP came out in September 2021 right before a smoking set at Gonerfest 18. This EP was practically sold out when they arrived. Is it all hype? No. The band is really that good. The sound ranges from snotty, forward-motion, rocking ’70s punk to mid-tempo Fall diatribe delivery. “So Original” is solid punk songwriting blessed with a catchy chorus. Smirk is a band to look out for. If you don’t like this, you don’t like punk. Have your head examined.
