SLOW MUTANTS: Self-titled: LP

Sep 16, 2021

Slow Mutants remind me of the golden years of indie pop in the 1990s. I don’t see that as a bad thing, honestly. They can be smooth, minimalist, and serene while hard-driving the next minute, as in the song “Buried Fortress” that builds in intensity and once it takes, off it goes! Think of Bush Tetras, Young Marble Giants, Wire, and the outliers on labels like Simple Machines and Spin Art. “Deviant Sign” is the cut off this album! –Matt Average (Radical Empathy, onepercentpress.com)
