SLINKEES, THE: Who Cares?: 7” EP

May 24, 2022

Word on the street is these high school Cap’n Crunch fans from D.C. split up after playing one show, but they left behind five songs of crude rock and inside jokes to leave us wondering. Is it true the lyrics to “Go to Alaska” were written by a descendent of President James Garfield? Is the drag race car wreck mentioned at the end of “Trans Am” based on a true story, and who was driving the Camaro? Just how much milk did the band members regularly drink? We’ll never know, I suppose. The important thing is whether or not these Georgetown punks will show up soon in some other group formation. Looking forward to whatever they might do next. –Matt Werts (Dischord, dischord.com)
