I haven’t seen this anarchist newspaper since I was in the Bay Area years ago, and I was happy to see that it’s still a going concern. The writing is still excellent— concerning local, national, and global issues—and there’s a good mix of the personal with the political, which keeps it from seeming like a standard box-checking Leftist political endeavor. The tributes to two fallen comrades were particularly touching and kept the paper from becoming bogged down by rhetoric, as well. One drawback is that, besides the cover, the art accompanying the articles is lackluster at best. Half-formed cartoons in a vaguely graffiti style present a jarring juxtaposition to the care with which the articles are crafted, but that’s a small complaint overall.
