SLAM: “Wild Riders of Boards”: 7”

A very brief reintroduction to an ‘80s band many may not remember, this 7” single features two different versions of Swedish skatepunk band Slam’s “Wild Riders Of Boards.” The A side version is from the eponymously named third volume of the Thrasher Skate Rock series of compilations, originally released in ‘85. The B side features the album version from 1987’s End of Laughter LP. While either version will be at home on your skatepunk playlist, the album version has a little more jangly surf-inspired vibe to it, making it my preferred version. However, with limited space in many people’s wallets and record collections, this seems like an interesting but difficult-to-justify purchase. –Paul J. Comeau (Not Like You, notlikeyourecords.com)
