SKIDS: Songs from a Haunted Ballroom: CD

Sep 16, 2021

Their second album since reforming a few years ago (after breaking up in the early ’80s), this legendary Scottish punk band opts to fill this full-length out with two reworkings of songs from their 1979 debut, Scared to Dance, and the rest are covers of tunes by David Essex, Sex Pistols, Stooges, Magazine, Nick Lowe, Adverts, Hello, and others. When they work, they work well. When they don’t… well, they feel like a band in neutral waiting for inspiration to hit ’em on the noggin and tell them where to go next. –Jimmy Alvarado (Cleopatra)
