This is the first time Shutdown’s 1995 debut album has been released on vinyl and it’s the first time I’ve listened to the band in some time. I’ll be honest; I’d forgotten how much the band was influenced by the melodic elements of Dischord bands like Three, High Back Chairs, and Gray Matter. I’d also suggest that Samiam were on the turntables of this U.K. outfit too, based on how the album has the warm and rich sound I associate with that long-standing outfit. This album has certainly stood the test of time. It sounds really good and should be on the want lists of those with a leaning towards punk rock heavily laced with melody. –Rich Cocksedge (Helpless Dancer)
