SEATTLE STOMP: Maudlin Madness: CS

Mar 25, 2020

Seattle Stomp is the solo project of Alex Molica, also of the band Towner. The multi-talented Molica recorded all the instruments heard on the album. Opening with the banger “Anxious Thoughts,” with waves of twangy guitar, Maudlin Madness meanders from there. There’s a ’60s vibe throughout, which makes the cover of Sam The Sham And The Pharaohs’ “Little Red Riding Hood,” in the middle of the tape feel right at home. The one thing that felt out of place on this throwback trip was the unusual spoken word piece following the track “Mon Frere.” While interesting, it just didn’t seem to make sense with the rest of the album. –Paul J.
