SCRAPS, THE: Demo ‘85: 12” EP

Sep 22, 2023

The Scraps were a hardcore band from northern France that existed between the years 1985 and 1995. These recordings are their earliest material and draw inspiration from fellow Euro hardcore bands, such as Italy’s Wretched and Lärm from the Netherlands, in both raw sound and unbridled energy. The fact that these songs are played with such recklessness and speed at a time when so many classic bands were looking towards metal influence to expand their horizons (SSD and Corrosion Of Conformity to name a few) more than makes up for the primitive recording and lack of coordination (drums too fast, guitar and/or bass not in tune, et cetera.) I’m happy to have The Scraps on my radar now and will greatly consider picking up more from them. –Juan Espinosa (Refuse, refusemusic.net, refuserecords.bandcamp.com)
