SAVAGE REPUBLIC: “1938/Siam”: 10”

Jul 20, 2021

New single by one of L.A.’s singular, best post-punk outfits. Both songs here originally appeared on 2007’s 1938 album, re-recorded this time ’round in 2019 at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio studio. They have a nice, full sound that accentuates the quasi-tribal rhythms and ubiquitous ostrich guitar drone that make up the bedrock to the band’s sound. Throw in colored vinyl and a very nice hand-letterpressed cover and you have another fine addition to their oeuvre. –Jimmy Alvarado (Mobilization, mobilization.com)
