SAVAGE: No Escape: LP

Seattle powerviolence with an emphasis on the sludge aspect. It’s so noisy and chaotic (in the riffs, not just the recording) that it can make it hard to always know what’s going on, but it’s definitely worth the repeated listens. They put some actual songs together, which isn’t the easiest thing to do in this style. They are on the Weekend Nachos side of things, which I mean as a compliment. Covers of songs by Bold, DYS, and Brotherhood all appear on here, so it’s clear they understand how to put together songs that are heavy that are still pretty catchy. Lyrics about racism and imperialism. One song is called “Lion’s Pussy,” which is about how much they hate our commander-in-chief but has a really dumb name. Just sayin’. –Ian Wise (SPHC,
