Saucers were Rocket From The Tombs’ Craig Bell’s next musical foray following that legendary unit’s dissolution and his move to Cleveland. Active from 1977-’80, they released two 45s before breaking up. Tracks from those records are included here along with assorted other tracks from different recording sessions, with stylistic choices running from proto-punk stompers reminiscent of Radio Birdman, to wavy quirk-jams, to jangly ’60s-inflected pop. An A+ collection overall and a poignant reminder that some of the best punk has to offer doesn’t always come from acts that have become brand names. –Jimmy Alvarado (Rerun)
