I’ve never been a fan of Christmas-themed rock music, and whatever residual yuletide charm these six songs might have effused is largely negated by the fact that I am listening to it for the first time in February. That said, these tunes do a strangely effective job of using Christmas themes to channel pretty damn astute observations on the global zeitgeist. “Merry Christmas Joey Ramone” is about twice as long as it needs to be, but “Last Christmas Was a Shit Show,” “We Finally Won the War on Christmas,” and “Good Will Towards Man Seems Insincere” are right on the nuts. Merry Christmas, Motherfuckers.
