There’s a bit of genre-bouncing here, but the core is based on slinky, funky, (largely) synth-driven pop with occasional forays into disco and early synth-wave land. At times the vibe recalls early-’80s Prince sans the pottymouth lyricism—catchy, simple, eclectic, experimental. Two discs’ worth of tunes is a bit ambitious, but it works for the most part, which is more than can be said for some groups working with 1/6th the real estate. –Jimmy Alvarado (Almost Ready)
