“Rockin Bob”—not to be confused with “Rockin’ Steve,” the guy who sold Father the dragon boots on The Brak Show—is Bob Cenci, guitarist for Boston hardcore forefathers Jerry’s Kids. He’s backed by the apparently not-as-rockin’ Bob Furapples (hey, I don’t make the news, I just report it), the drummer for Boston hardfore corefathers The F.U.’s. Rounding out the trio on bass is some dude called “Earthdog,” who might as well be a Razorcake contributor for all I know. Apart from a sort of country lope on the title track, there really aren’t any surprises here—If you used Is This My World? and Kill for Christ as starting points, and factored in about four decades worth of metabolic slowdowns (conveniently ignoring any embarrassing mid-’80s dalliances with that Great Satan, heavy metal), you’d likely end up at or near Almost Gone. Solid, veteran punk which reinvents no wheel and seems like sort of a coda to the early ’80s output of the aforementioned participants. I can live with that, which is a good thing: Rockin’ Steve’s not real big on returns. BEST SONG & SONG TITLE: “Private Jet.” FANTASTIC AMAZING TRIVIA FACT: Bob Furapples and I were pen-pals back when I was in high school—forty years ago!—and he dubbed me a copy of Kill for Christ before it was released. Thusly was my existence validated! –Rev. Nørb (RBPunkBandMusic)
