The subtitle for this inaugural issue is “An overview of Satanic moral panics.” Andrew, the “recovering anarchist” author, reviews several books that cover cults, religion, and problematic social movements. Andrew takes a deep dive into The Storm Is upon Us, a book about the rise of QAnon, and a couple of books that have to do with Satanism and Satanic panic. My big takeaway from these reviews is how horrifying it is that fundamentalist groups have a new scapegoat to blame society’s problems on every ten years. And how Jewish folks have never escaped that finger pointing. And I am deeply interested in reading some of these Satanic panic books. Isn’t it wild that the idea of Satan is way less scary than any fundamentalist Christian? A good read that makes you want to read something longer than a zine. It has a pretty cool cover, too. –Rick V. (Paracosm Press, PO Box 3365, Bloomington, IN 47402)
