REPETITOR: Gde ćeš: CD

May 23, 2017

I liked Repetitor’s previous record, Dobrodošli na okean, which was decidedly post-punk, leaning heavily on the punk side. The latest from this Belgrade trio goes in a lot of directions. If I didn’t know these tracks were all by the same band I might guess this was a mix CD of a bunch of related side projects. There’s grunge, drone, riot grrrl, and other stuff stewing around—and it’s all pretty good—but it doesn’t make much sense as a whole. This album documents a band trying to experiment and expand their sound, but a more sonically unified album would have been a more enjoyable listen. That said, they’ve gotten much more adept at making music, and I’m looking forward to hearing what they do next. –Cheyenne Neckmonster (Moonlee)
