Man, this is a tough record to pin down, and that is to Red Locks’ credit. Much of it has a garage-rock-meets-electronica feel to it, with ample helpings of both hip-hop and experimental sensibilities mixed into the sauce. I get a distinct Portishead vibe to this as well, but with fewer jazz undercurrents and more psychedelic dreamscape. In the end this record is very well done, but the more experimental bits don’t hit home with me. I love the garagey and Portisheady stuff, but I need more of it. That’s just me, though. –The Lord Kveldulfr (@theredlocksband)
