REASKI: Esok Hari Kepunyaan Kita: 7”EP

I frequently wonder how LVEUM manages to unearth so many great bands but I guess the international punk community is something it is strongly plugged into. Anyway, in Reaski, a trio of Asian immigrants living in Melbourne, Australia, another gem comes to light. Five tracks sung in their native language of Bahasa and musically reminiscent of the likes of Blitz, Peter And The Test Tube Babies, and G.B.H means I’m hooked from the get go. It’s got a rough quality which has a UK82 feel to it, including plentiful use of the tom toms, something I remember from those days. The songs address the plight of immigrants, police brutality, and in “Punk Asia,” the sense of struggle for freedom for many from that continent is the prominent theme. Another excellent release from his label. –Rich Cocksedge (La Vida Es Un Mus, [email protected], lavidaesunmus.com)
