I love crushes. Paper Valentines, notes in lockers, snickering in the girls’ room crushes. I love thinking about people and wondering how many times to text them is too much and if they like me back. Here are songs that run through all my crush emotions: excitement, confusion, daydreamy-ness, wistful longing, unrequited love, jealously, happiness, horniness, and ultimately, just wanting to eat junk food in bed and talk about femmes in punk with people.
These are tunes I stay up late burning rose incense and making collages to. The soundtrack to reclaiming your inner grade school self and telling that boy/girl/gender nonconforming/otherwise identifying person that you don’t care about their cooties and want to take them on a romantic walk around the playground.
Perhaps if your crush has a crush on you back and if you both are good at “communication,” you can potentially start a “healthy relationship.” That’s a whole ‘nother podcast. (I know nothing about this.)
