Remember when “death punk” was a thing? Turbonegro albums two and three specifically—punk rock’n’roll that mowed down a new path of melodic but dark punk rock—influenced by The Damned and TSOL perhaps, in vibe if not style, but really its own unique thing. Ravagers mine that rich but relatively untrodden cave. While the recording and mix are a little slick for the style, the melodies are catchy and very Turbo, all filtered through the lens of The Hellacopters. As odd as that may sound, it works.
