RADIO COMPASS: Aloha: LP

Salem, Mass. outfit’s debut record draws from some far-flung musical influences but somehow makes it all work. I’m hearing Siouxsie And The Banshees, Pixies, and even some Pylon. “Magazines” has a super-groovy bass line and a wacky-sounding chorus that’s intriguing. “Late to the Party” even reminds me of Missing Persons. They wrap it all up with a straight-ahead punk tune called “Better Now.” This was unexpected and deserves you giving it a try. –Sean Koepenick (Sound Investment, soundinvestmentrecords.bandcamp.com)
