PUZZLECUTS: No Max Amount: CD

You know the high school boyfriend on TV shows or in high school romantic comedies? He has a band, they play in their parent’s garage, and he makes mix tapes for his girlfriend. Puzzlecuts sounds like that. The songs don’t flow that well and harmonies don’t sync up. While listening to this album, I thought their title track’s lyrics—“there’s no max amount of how many times you can repeat at higher volumes, a broken record”—were wrong, because there was a max amount of times I could only listen to this broken record of so-called emo punk revival. Sometimes I listened to it on repeat for clarity, but only on low volume. –Cynthia Pinedo (puzzlecuts.bandcamp.com)
