PRIVATE LIVES: Hit Record: LP

Sep 22, 2023

Private Lives are shimmery and driving, somewhere in that optimal combination of being both dreamy and grounded. On “All the Queen’s Men,” there’s a sober look at personal excess and also a taste of how euphoric excess can be. You could argue Private Lives pick one lane—a sort of rough-edged, glammy punk—and never deviate, almost to a fault. I would say they’re using a recognizable, accessible form to say something subtle and complex. Again, an ideal combo. –Matt Werts (Feel It, feelitrecordshop.com)
