PRIVATE FUNCTION: Whose Line Is It Anyway?: LP/CD

Dec 03, 2020

These irreverent Aussies, now supplemented by PJ Russo of Night Birds as an added six stringer, are all over the place. Across the course of this album (and additional tracks on the CD) the band sounds a bit like The Dickies, AC/DC, and a plethora of other bands. It’s punk with a heavy dose of rock and bits of whatever else can be squeezed in, and it’s obvious that Private Function refuses to be pigeonholed into any one genre. I love it, I really do. Tracks like “Irresponsible Dog Owner (I’m An)” and “Stop Liking What I Don’t Like” make me chuckle as here is a band wanting to have fun and succeeding. As a footnote, I was listening to Consumers the other day and I could hear a few similarities between both bands, which hadn’t initially occurred to me. –Rich Cocksedge (Damaged Music, damagedmusic.com.au)
