Pretty Pretty’s Leather Weather 7” is a power pop favorite of mine, with tunes so sweet I get cavities. Talkin’ to the Walls features two new songs (“Monster” being the standout) and a cover of Dead Moon’s “Love Comes Once.” “Monster” presents a darker and less bubbly Pretty Pretty, featuring lyrics like “That empty bottle is just a black hole. It makes me stumble, my morals crumble.” The angst adds more weight to the already dense songs. I can only hope that Pretty Pretty will finally quit starving our ears and get a grip of tunes together for an LP. –Sean Arenas (Rad Girlfriend, radgirlfriendrecords.storenvy.com)
