This is the first issue of Postcards from Irving I’ve encountered, but to my understanding, it’s an archival project researching places and tidbits depicted or mentioned in correspondence from a man named Ben Irving, a musician in the 1920s and 1930s. This issue includes the first half of an interview with a woman who lived in a small town Irving sent a postcard from in 1936, a song Irving wrote, and a brief history of a venue Irving had a residency in at one point. I really enjoyed this archival window, centered on one man’s life, that opens into so many other facets of history and the lives of others. –jimmy cooper (PO Box 1309, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48804)
